Alright, fellow dog parents, this week we’re mixing it up with a (mostly) indoor adventure because, let’s face it, in the middle of Florida summer, it’s just too hot and buggy out there! So we’re heading to our all-time favorite boutique pet store: 3 Dogs & a Chick!
This awesome, locally-owned shop in Ft. Walton is totally worth the hour drive from Pensacola. They’ve been around since 2008 and have become a fantastic resource for the pup community here in the Panhandle. They support local shelters and rescues, partner with dog trainers to provide classes, and host dog-friendly events that bring us all together. And yes, they have way more than just treats!
But speaking of treats… this place is our top spot for trying new goodies. The Bakery team is so creative, and their seasonal treats are always a hit. I’m loving their Summer collection with all the bright, fun colors. And don’t even get me started on their pupcakes. For Bay’s birthdays, I’ve sent them my wild ideas, and they’ve made the most amazing cakes. Can’t wait to see what they come up with this year!
But it’s not just about treats. They’ve got top-notch dog and cat food, holistic supplements, and tons of toys and accessories. Seriously, you won’t leave without a bag full of goodies. Plus, Nicole and her super friendly team will spoil your pup with lots of love and attention. Oh and be sure to stop and grab a selfie in the seasonal photo booth. Pics or it didn’t happen!
Now, let’s talk day trip, as you can really make this a great outing. I like to start with a walk and some playtime at Ft. Walton Beach Landing Park, which is right behind the store (it’s currently under construction but still open). After burning off some energy, we then cool off in the store with a pupcup and enjoy the AC and browsing around. Once we’re done shopping, we like to grab lunch at one of the dog-friendly spots in the plaza. By the end of the day, Bay is ready for a nap, happy and full of treats! A great alternative to a hike in the heat.
So, if you haven’t checked out 3 Dogs & a Chick yet, whether you’re a local or just visiting, you’ve gotta go. We give it 5 paws up and it’s one of the top dog-friendly places in Ft. Walton. Trust me, you and your pup will love it!
Due to the heat & mosquitos we are taking a couple of weeks off of our outdoor adventures but we’ve got some fun places lined up for the fall!
Until then, wags & wiggles,
Jess & Bay
